BACOLOD City – The city government has so far validated 50 percent of identification cards (IDs) for senior citizens and persons with disabilities (PWDs).

The validation process has been prolonged due to a shortage of printing machines, said Councilor Celia Flor, the chairperson of the Sangguniang Panlungsod’s Committee on Senior Citizens.

According to Flor, the limited capacity for printing IDs has been an issue, but the city government has now ordered new machines, which will significantly increase the production rate.

It is expected that thousands of IDs will be printed daily with the new equipment.

Flor also reassured that existing senior citizen IDs remain valid indefinitely and can still be used in various establishments even without a QR code.

She emphasized that holders of these IDs are entitled to discounts. This clarification comes after complaints were received about some businesses failing to honor the discounts for seniors using older IDs./PN
