Over P5-M ‘shabu’ seized, 29 drug suspects nabbed in 24-hour ops in WV

ILOILO City – Policemen from Western Visayas have confiscated a total of P5,120,400 worth of suspected in 24-hour operations.

Data from the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) showed that different police units across the region carried out 22 operations from 6 a.m. on May 9 to 5:59 p.m. on May 10, which also resulted in the arrest of 29 drugs suspects.

Of the total 753 grams of suspected shabu seized, the PRO-6’s Regional Drug Enforcement Unit scored the biggest haul of approximately 430 grams from three antidrug operations.

Other units’ confiscations are the following:

* Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office – 35 grams of suspected shabu from 11 operations

* Iloilo Police Provincial Office – 239 grams from five operations

* Bacolod City Police Office – 32 grams from two operations

* Iloilo City Police Office – 17 grams from one operation

PRO-6 data further showed that of the 29 arrested, seven were tagged as high-value individuals and 22 were classified as street-level targets.

One of the high-value drug suspects was arrested in Barangay Managopaya, Banate, Iloilo around 12:05 p.m. on May 9.

The 39-year-old alias “Butchoy,” a resident of the town’s Barangay Carmelo, yielded approximately P340,000 worth of suspected shabu.

Butchoy was detained at the Banate Municipal Police Station, facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).

PRO-6 director Police Brigadier General Jack Wanky commended the operatives for their notable accomplishments in the campaign against illegal drugs.

“These accomplishments are the manifestation of the dedication and hard work of our police operatives. Let us continue to work hand-in-hand with other agencies, the community, and other stakeholders for a drug-free region,” said Wanky./PN
