AKLAN – The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) in Aklan cancelled all sea travel from Caticlan Port in Malay, Aklan to various destinations in Luzon following the escalation of Tropical Storm “Aghon”.
The cancellation, announced yesterday, impacted all sea vessels that were scheduled to travel from Caticlan to any area currently under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 1 or higher.
The decision was announced in the Sea Travel Advisory No. 5 issued by Lieutenant Junior Grade John Laurence D. Banzuela, Commander of the CGS, Aklan at approximately 11 a.m. on Sunday.
The advisory specifically affected routes from Caticlan Port to Batangas Port in Batangas City, Sta. Fe in Romblon, San Jose in Romblon, Roxas in Mindoro, and Bulalacao in Mindoro.
The advisory referenced the HPCG memorandum circular No. 02-23, which states, “No vessel of any type or tonnage shall be allowed to sail when tropical cyclone wind Signal (TCWS) No. 1 or higher is hoisted within its point of origin, the intended route, and point of destination.”
Travelers and maritime operators are urged to comply with the guidelines to ensure safety during the adverse weather conditions brought by Tropical Storm Aghon./PN
