PRO-6 nets 31 individuals for ‘illegal gun possession’

ILOILO City – The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) has apprehended 31 individuals for illegal possession of firearms through its intensified “iron hand approach” operations across the region.

Also, from May 1 to 15, a total of 35 assorted firearms and two explosives were confiscated during 27 operations.

Here is the breakdown of arrests per police unit:

* Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (PPO) – 14 arrests

* Iloilo PPO – eight arrests

* Capiz PPO – five arrests

* Aklan PPO, Iloilo City Police Office (CPO), Bacolod CPO, and Regional Mobile Force Battalion 6 – one arrest each

The PRO-6’s “soft hand approach”, meanwhile, led to the voluntary surrender and deposition of 182 assorted firearms and 23 explosives.

PRO-6 director Brigadier General Jack L. Wanky said the combined strategies of enforcement and voluntary compliance highlight the region’s commitment to reducing illegal firearms and enhancing public safety./PN
