FRENCH football star Kylian Mbappé was officially unveiled as the newest member of Real Madrid C.F., ending years of talks and negotiations to have his services.
The Los Blancos has officially announced the acquisition of Mbappé on Monday night (Tuesday in the Philippines). He signed a five-year contract with the Spanish football club.
“The Whites have strengthened their squad with a world superstar,” the team said. “Real Madrid have reached an agreement for the player to be at Real Madrid for the next five seasons.”
Mbappé, who was acquired by the Los Blancos via free agent transfer, described his Real Madrid move as a fulfillment of a childhood dream to play for the 15-time UEFA Champions League titlist.
“A dream come true. So happy and proud to join the club of my dreams, I’m proud to join Real Madrid,” Mbappé said in a statement. “Nobody can understand how excited I am right now.”
“Can’t wait to see you, Madridistas, and thanks for your unbelievable support! Let me say: Hala Madrid!” added the 25-year-old former Paris Saint-Germain CF star.
Mbappé’s desire to play for Real Madrid was influenced by his childhood idol Cristiano Ronaldo, who was the face of Los Blancos from 2009 to 2018.
The 39-year-old Ronaldo, who is now with Al-Nassr Football Club in Saudi Pro League, expressed elation with Mbappé’s official transfer to Real Madrid.
“My turn to (watch) Excited to see you light up the (Santiago) Bernabéu. Hala Madrid!” the Portuguese football legend wrote in a social media post.
Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti, for his part, said he does not see a problem with Mbappé joining forces with Jude Bellingham, Vinicius Junior, Luka Modric, and Rodrygo.
“Good players need to know how to play together. The important thing is to maintain a balance,” Ancelotti said. “For me, the most important things in a team are: quality and balance. If you can combine these two things, you’ll be successful.”
Mbappé’s five-year contract with PSG will begin on July 1, making him available for the Los Blancos in the European Supercup against Atalanta on August 14./PN
