Senior citizen loses jewelry, money to ‘budol-budol’ gang

AKLAN – A 79-year-old woman was victimized by a budol-budol or swindling group on Archbishop Reyes Street in Kalibo town on Saturday, June 8.

Kalibo police said the victim, who refused to be named, was approached by a certain Rose Gonzalez who identified herself as a friend of one of the victim’s children.

According to the victim, Gonzalez told her to get inside the latter’s car to give her a pair of shoes.

While inside the vehicle, the elderly added that a certain Ms. Lim arrived and asked where she could buy a fire extinguisher.

Police said the Gonzalez and Lim continued the conversation with the victim until the latter unconsciously took off her three 18-karat gold rings worth a total of P15,000 and 10-karat gold necklace worth P20,000 and placed it inside a pink bag.

The victim also put her money amounting to P10,500 and her ATM card with pin number inside the said bag.

Kalibo police said before the victim left, the suspects handed her the pink bag. And when she arrived home she was surprised to see only bits of paper inside the bag.

As of this writing, officers of the Kalibo Municipal Police Station were still investigating the incident to identify the culprits. (With a report from Radyo Todo Aklan 88.5 FM)/PN
