Nearly 7,000 jobs available at Kalayaan Job Fair tomorrow

ILOILO City – The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Region 6 will offer 6,874 local and overseas jobs at tomorrow’s Kalayaan Job Fair at SM City – Bacolod in line with the Philippine Independence Day celebration.

John Mandario, DOLE-6’s information officer, confirmed that 55 participating companies have committed to participate.

The number of local employment opportunities could increase, he added.

He urged interested applicants to register at http://bit.ly/KalayaanJobseekers or scan the provided QR Code.

He also recommended that applicants bring multiple copies of their resumés or biodata.

In addition to the job fair, DOLE-6 has organized a series of activities focusing on poverty alleviation.

Over 30,000 recipients from the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged / Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program will receive their wages after completing 10 days of work.

The KADIWA ng Pangulo, featuring products from 196 small businesses supported by the agency, will also be launched in six provinces. This initiative will display local products from farmers.

Additionally, P3 million worth of aid will be distributed to the vulnerable sector, including assistance for parents of children engaged in child labor.

“June 12 is also National Day against child labor. Assistance will be provided to 65 parents of child laborers,” Mandario added.

DOLE-6 will also distribute school supplies to child laborers to show the government’s support.

A help desk will be set up by DOLE-6 during the job fair to cater to inquiries or concerns from clients regarding services like Social Security System, PhilHealth, Pag-ibig, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, and Philippine Overseas Employment Administration, among others./PN
