AKLAN – A 27-year-old man died after he was stabbed in Sitio Mapait, Barangay Aranas, Balete town on Monday night, June 17.
Rogen Borres, a resident of the village, sustained a stab wound on his chest. He was brought by personnel of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) to Aklan Provincial Hospital but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.
Balete police identified the suspect as 18-yer-old JM Rimon, also a resident of the barangay.
Initial investigation of the Balete Municipal Police Station (MPS) showed that while Borres was on his way home from his brother’s house, he allegedly dropped by Rimon’s house.
Both the victim and suspect were inebriated, police added.
The suspect’s family, meanwhile, alleged that Borres suddenly entered their home and struck Rimon on the head with a liquor bottle. In retaliation, Rimon also hit Borres on the head with a bottle and stabbed him on the chest.
The suspect voluntarily surrendered to the Balete MPS after the incident. He will face charges for homicide./PN
