GUIMARAS – Team Crosspoint ruled the 17-and-under category of the Chairman’s Cup-Guimaras after a 91-86 victory over Archegos at the Buenavista Gym here.
Chad Galas displayed consistent performance for Team Crosspoint in the entire Guimaras qualification leg to earn the Best Player of the Tournament honors.
Galas was also named in the 17-and-under Mythical Five along with Crosspoint teammate Bryan Dale Garganera, Shem Vilches of Synergy, Roel Cortez of Jordan National High School, and Rexell Galapin of Archegos.
SBP Chairman’s Cup Committee Commissioner Dr. Richard Gabayoyo, six teams have participated in the 17-and-under category of the qualifier that run for almost half a month.
With the championship, Team Crosspoint will advance to the 2nd Chairman’s Cup Philippines 17-and-under National Finals to be held from August 14-18, 2024 at The Warehouse Gym in Iloilo City.
Iloilo is to be represented by Angelicum School Iloilo-UST Blue Owls, while Negros Occidental is represented by Acster Marketing-Bacolod Tay Tung High School Thunderbolts.
Also sending their representatives in the four-day 17-and-under National Finals are Capiz, Antique, Cebu, Palawan, and Cagayan de Oro.
Meanwhile, Supang National High school captured the 15-and-under category championship following a close 55-54 victory over Crosspoint in the finals.
Supang’s Reymart Guellermo bannered the 15-and-under mythical team along with Crosspoint’s Renz Lanado and Drich Soriano, Rhemie Gallo of Vanguard, and Rex Madero of Jordan.
The Guimaras qualifier was presented by Toyota Iloilo, Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas along with Buenavista Mayor Samuel Gumarin and Chief Engineer Darwin Aranda./PN
