MANILA – The discovery of the real identity of controversial Bamban, Tarlac mayor Alice Guo will not affect the cases previously filed against her, the Department of Justice (DOJ) said.

According to Assistant Secretary Jose Dominic Clavano IV, the human trafficking and graft charges filed under the “Alice Guo” name will still stand.

The National Bureau of Investigation recently discovered Alice Guo and Chinese passport holder Guo Hua Ping have matching fingerprints, proving that she is a pure Chinese.

Nag-file na ng criminal cases against Alice Guo. There’s also been chatter about ‘yung fake identity niya. Hindi naman ‘yan makakaapekto sa kanyang mga kaso,” Clavano said.

“In fact, magkakaroon pa siya ng ibang liability kung mahanap na stolen identity ang ginagamit niya ngayon,” added the DOJ spokesperson.

Guo, along with several others, are facing human trafficking charges for their alleged involvement in the Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) hub in Bamban, Tarlac.

Guo was also charged with graft case by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) for the same issue.

Calvano also said Guo cannot be deported as she is already charged with criminal cases in the Philippines.

“That serves as a hindrance or a bar for the deportation of the suspended mayor,” Clavano said.

Guo is at the center of the Senate investigation into the raided POGO hub in Bamban, Tarlac after several documents showed that she was personally involved in the processing of documents for its operations./PN
