Indian nat’l arrested for immigration violations

BACOLOD City – An Indian national, identified as Joginder Geong, was arrested on Tuesday evening at Santa Lucia Gardens Subdivision, Barangay Taculing under charges of violating Philippine immigration laws and being a fugitive from justice.

Geong, 40, who has been living under the assumed name Kant Gupta with a counterfeit Nepalese passport, was apprehended at around 7:40 p.m. by the Bacolod City Police Office 6 (BCPO 6), led by Police Captain Dax Santillan, and various police units.

Authorities revealed that Geong is a notorious criminal wanted in India for multiple serious offenses, including murder, attempted murder, extortion, robbery, and has even been sentenced to life imprisonment for violating arms laws in his home country.

Currently, Geong is detained under the custody of the Foreign Service Unit (FSU) of the Bureau of Immigration where he awaits further proceedings concerning his potential deportation.

Other police units that helped in the operation were the Field Intelligence Division and Criminal Investigation Team of the Police Regional Office 6’s Regional Intelligence Unit, Bacolod Marpsta, Regional Mobile Unit 6 (RMU 6), and 605th Company of Regional Mobile Force Battalion 6./PN
