BACOLOD City – Police officers from Station 8 apprehended a 25-year-old former member of the Philippine Marine Corps for alleged illegal possession of a firearm and issuing grave threats.
On Sunday evening, Herald Jhones Hilado, a resident of Barangay 3, La Carlota City, Negros Occidental, was detained following accusations by Japeth Adrian Segador, a 28-year-old delivery rider for Maxim residing in Barangay Singcang-Airport.
The arrest occurred around 9 p.m. in Barangay Singcang-Airport, where police responded to Segador’s complaint and reportedly found Hilado holding a firearm.
Previously dismissed from service for being absent without leave (AWOL), Hilado now faces legal challenges as authorities confiscated an unlicensed .45 caliber pistol and ammunition from him.
The police are set to file charges against Hilado for violating Republic Act 10591, which covers illegal possession of firearms, in addition to charges related to grave threats. He remains in custody at the police station pending further proceedings./PN
