KALIBO, Aklan – The Department of Education (DepEd) in Aklan will launch the Brigada Eskwela on July 23 in preparations for the incoming school year 2024-2025.

The launching will be held at Ipil Integrated School in Barangay Ipil, Batan town, with the theme “Bayanihan para sa Matatag na Paaralan”.

The 19 school districts across the province will conduct the Brigada Eskwela activities from July 22 to 27.

The National Schools Maintenance Week is a multi-sectoral activity of parents, stakeholders, DepEd teachers and non-teaching personnel to ensure the school facilities are ready for the opening of in-person classes on July 29.

Brigada Eskwela also engages the collective efforts of local communities and volunteers to conduct minor to medium repairs, cleanups and maintenance work in classrooms and within the school sites.

Brigada Eskwela, meanwhile, will be launched by the DepEd regional office at La Castellana National Hight School in Negros Occidental on July 19 in collaboration with the Schools Division of Negros Occidental.

Brigada Eskwela is mandated by the Adopt-A-School Act of 1998, which gives the private sectors to help schools by upgrading of existing facilities, construction of facilities, staff and faculty development for training and further education, provision of books, publications, and other instructional materials and modernization of instructional technologies./PN
