Rico Blanco teases ‘Kisapmata’ track amid split with Maris Racal

IT APPEARS that Rico Blanco is set to rerelease the 1990s Rivermaya song “Kisapmata” amid his recent breakup with Maris Racal; and fans of the pair couldn’t help but feel all the feels.

Blanco dropped a teaser clip via his Instagram page on Thursday, July 11, a day before the actress made their split public. In the video, the musician, who is sitting in his studio, plays on his laptop the melody of “Kisapmata.”

“POV: You’re finally ready for the world to hear the track you’ve been working on for the last five months,” the phrase in the clip reads. He also added in the caption, “07.19.24,” which appears to be the release date for the song.

After Racal’s revelation, fans were then quick to relate the track to them and then you current status of Blanco’s love life, swarming the comments section with their sentiments on the pair’s breakup.

Blanco, meanwhile, has yet to respond to these remarks or publicly address the breakup as of this writing.

It was on Friday, July 12, when Racal confirmed that she and Rivermaya vocalist and chief songwriter Blanco have parted ways while clarifying that there was no third party involved in their split.

Racal announced their split in a Star Magic Spotlight press conference when asked if she saw a future with the musician. Before this question, she was already asked if Blanco had no problems with the popularity of her onscreen tandem with Anthony Jennings.

“I’m really scared,” she began as she started to cry. “Ang dami kasing tanong about him and I’m tired of smiling and nodding. I’m so scared because if I announce it, then it’s real.”

The “Can’t Buy Me Love” star then paused for a moment before confirming their split.

“Rico and I are over,” she said. “It’s fresh. It’s been a few weeks. It’s the loneliest, emptiest weeks I’ve ever experienced in my life… Wala akong short answer for it. Hindi ko rin siya malabas ng iisang statement lang kasi hindi gan’un kadali. Sobrang complicated niya na situation.”

Despite their breakup, Racal chose to look on the brighter side, sharing that she and Blanco had a five-year relationship that was “so beautiful and so full of love.” (Anne Pasajol © Philippine Daily Inquirer)
