CAPIZ – A 39-year-old man was shot to death during a commotion in Barangay Quevedo, Maayon town on Sunday night, July 14.
Joseph Taladtad, a chainsaw operator, sustained two gunshot wounds on his chest. He died while receiving treatment at Bailan District Hospital in Pontevedra town.
Maayon police identified the suspect as the victim’s neighbor, Augusto Diestro.
According to the Maayon Police Station (MPS), prior to the incident, they received a call from Diestro complaining about Taladtad who was allegedly drunk and armed with a knife.
The police immediately responded and the situation was under control following their talks with Taladtad’s family.
However at around 8:30 p.m. police said Taladtad and Diestro had a heated argument, prompting the latter to shoot the victim.
Maayon police arrested the suspect thereafter. He was detained at the custodial facility of Maayon MPS, facing homicide charges./PN
