GUIMARAS – The proposed establishment of a cost center at the provincial hospital here received support from Gov. JC Rahman Nava.
Gov. Nava has expressed support for the establishment of a cost center within Dr. Catalino Gallego Nava Provincial Hospital (DCGNPH), a government-funded Level 1 hospital in the province, to track actual expenses for comparison to the approved budget.
It was Provincial Accountant Gregory Teñoso II who recommended the establishment of the cost center to monitor income, expenses and overall budgeting of the government hospital to help stabilize its financial standing during a meeting with the governor and other provincial officials on July 9 at the New Tourism Building in Barangay San Miguel, Jordan town.
Dr. Allain Babao, head of the provincial hospital, reported that from January 1 to June 30 this year, the hospital has a total income of P116,065, 954.89 while the total obligations for the same period amounted to P112, 654, 602. 25.
Meanwhile, Gov. Nava allocated funds to subsidize the fees for the circumcision of 240 patients at DCGNPH on July 13. The cost of circumcision, excluding antibiotics and pain reliever, was P750 each charged to the Office of Representative Ma. Lucille L. Nava.
