BACOLOD City – The city government will provide a cash reward to anyone who can give any lead to the identification of suspects in the series of killings and shooting incidents here recently.
Lawyer Caesar Distrito, spokesperson for Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez, disclosed that the local chief executive had announced over the weekend that he will provide a cash reward to any credible informant/s on unsolved killings.
This after Colonel Joeresty Coronica, officer-in-charge (OIC) of the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), had proposed it to the mayor following his visit to the latter’s office last week after he assumed post as the chief of the city police on July 23.
The BCPO OIC said his proposal has gained favorable answer from the city mayor especially for providing the reward on the issue of unsolved shooting incidents.
“Kay sa panahon subong amo na ang isa nga na-confront nga problema. Kay daw nangin batasan na naton nga pabay-an na lang naton bisan nangin witness ka sa isa ka krimen kon indi ka man affected. Daw nagagwa nga pabay-an na lang dira kay basi ikaw pa balikan, daw amo na bala,” Coronica explained.
By way of a reward, Coronica added that they might convince or awaken social responsibility or the public when they witnessed the crime and they will give an affidavit as well as cooperate with police in order to help solve the crime.
Meanwhile, as the new BCPO head, Coronica said he will not only focus on solving the killing issues but also continue the campaign against illegal drugs.
“I want to further strengthen, kon indi ta man ma-stop, kay kadalagku man na diri sang recovery sang illegal drugs,” he said.
He added that he will address the problem on theft and robbery incidents, as well as the vandalism./PN
