Bacolod Tay Tung rules 10-U volleyball tourney

BACOLOD City – Bacolod Tay Tung High School Thunderbolts cliched the crown in the 1st Morgan Cup 10-Under girls tournament held recently at the Villamonte Gymnasium here.

The Roberto Calamba Jr.-mentored 10-Under Thunderbolts ruled the one-day volleyball league after defeating Ball Movers-B in the gold medal match.

Samantha Valenciano was named the tournament MVP, while Mhegan Ordaniel, Choloe Depalubos, and Rain Lim made valuable contributions in the victory.

Also part of the 10-Under Thunderbolts team are Jeydi Panisales, Ayana Palabrica, Andrea Chua, and Jana Cadeliña.

“I am happy for my team for giving their best in this very tiring competition format,” Calamba said. “All our opponents here are tough so we are happy to emerge as champions.”

In the elimination round, the 10-Under Thunderbolts prevailed over Navas Elementary School, STA-A, Ballmovers-A, and Trinity Christian School.

In the semifinals round, the 10-Under Thunderbolts dominated DVT-B before their championship win over Ball Movers-B.

Thunderbolts team manager Jose Montalbo, for his part, said the championship is a testament of success of the Thunderbolts’ grassroots program.

Basta kami we really never stop,” Montalbo said. “We will continue flourishing our grassroots program to give opportunity and develop young and talented volleyball players.”
