PRODUCTS that are “proudly Pinoy” will soon be launched in Philippine Embassies, Acting Trade Secretary Maria Cristina Aldeguer-Roque said.
On the sidelines of the Metro Manila Business Conference in Manila on August 22, Roque announced that products of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) are eyed to be available in stores to be set up in Philippine Embassies.
āWe really plan to have it in all Philippine Embassies all over the world because we need the Embassies to represent the Philippine MSME products and the Philippine products so we can show also the people of that country what we have and the Philippine pride,ā Roque said.
The trade chief said she sees the exposure to promote local products that can compete in the global market. DTI said this is an āaggressive approachā as it expects the rollout of the program to start in the next three months.
Food and non-food Filipino products are eyed to be sold including pearls from Mindanao and halal products.
āThere are pearls from Mindanao that have won the European award. Another thing that we will also have an aggressive approach will be the halal products ā we recognize the sales it could give us which is the 3.3 trillion US dollars global market,ā Roque said.
With the program already in the pipeline, DTI is assuring that MSMEs that will set up shop in Philippine Embassies are fully registered and are compliant with requirements and quality standards for export. (ABS-CBN News)
