Iloilo celebrates 87th Charter Day peacefully with no incidents reported

ILOILO City – The 87th Iloilo Charter Day celebration concluded without any major incidents, as confirmed by the Iloilo City Police Office. The city, buzzing with activities from August 16-18 and August 23-25, witnessed a significant influx of visitors, especially at the popular Calle Real Street Night Market.

Police Major Shella Mae Sangrines, spokesperson for the city police, reported that the celebration was a success with extensive police deployment ensuring public safety.

A total of 25 officers were stationed nightly at Iloilo Sunburst Park, supported by teams from Police Station 1, the Iloilo City Mobile Force Company, the Mobile Patrol Unit, the Criminal Investigation Unit, and the Special Weapons and Tactics team.

The heightened security measures extended beyond the night market to other key areas including the Iloilo Business Park, Smallville Complex, Iloilo River Esplanades, Iloilo Downtown, and various malls. Each of these locations was patrolled by officers from Iloilo City Police Stations 1-10, contributing to the peaceful atmosphere across the city.

The successful celebration highlights the effectiveness of the local police in maintaining order and ensuring that the Charter Day festivities were enjoyed safely by residents and visitors alike./PN
