MANILA – Biñan Tatak Gel 1-Pacman Partylist Volley Angels vented their ire at Negros-ICC Blue Hawks with a 25-18, 25-15, 25-17 sweep in the 2024 MPVA season on Monday at the Strike Gym in Bacoor, Cavite.
Honey Grace Cordero tallied 11 points, all coming from attacks, to be named Player of the Game as the Volley Angels secured their second victory in three matches.
Cordero, a member of the National University Lady Bulldogs women’s beach volleyball team, said their main motivation was to bounce back from their stinging five-set defeat to the Rizal XentroMall Golden Coolers last week.
“Talagang mas pinag igihan lang talaga namin sa training at sa laro,” Cordero said. “Motivation talaga namin na makabawi kasi medyo tight ‘yung naging talo namin sa Rizal.”
She added: “Inaalay namin itong panalo na ito sa mga coaches namin kasi sila talaga ‘yung nagpakahirap para makaisip ng game plan against sa kalaban naming.”
The Blue Hawks, on the other hand, saw their two-game winning streak snapped as they drop to a 2-2 win-loss card.
Meanwhile, San Juan Lady Knights-Go for Gold, composed of players from Mapua University Lady Cardinals, prevailed over Marikina Lady Shoemasters, 25-17, 25-13, 25-22.
Anne Margaux dela Cruz finished with eight points, built on five attacks and three service aces, as the Lady Knights improved to a 2-2 win-loss slate. The Lady Shoemasters dropped to 0-1.
Defending champions Bacoor City Strikers, on the other hand, protected their homecourt with a come-from-behind 23-25, 25-18, 25-18, 25-17 victory over Valenzuela Classy.
Jemalyn Menor was named Player of the Game after finishing with 21 points for Bacoor City, which now has a 3-1 win-loss slate. Valenzuela slipped to 0-3./PN
