Bacolod Tay Tung claims 2 titles in Gov’s Cup volleyball

BACOLOD City – Bacolod Tay Tung High School Thunderbolts claimed two championships in the Abanse Negrense 2nd Governor’s Cup Age Group Volleyball Girls Tournament held recently at the Montalbo Gym here.

The Thunderbolts 17-and-under squad emerged as champions in the 17-and-under category following a 25-9, 25-13, 25-16 straight set victory against Central Philippine University Golden Lions in the finals.

Rhose Almendralejo took home the MVP and Best 1st Outside Hitter award, Camila Amor Bartolome bagged the Best 1st Middle Blocker, Czarina Dosayla as Best Server, Joenil Anne Ramos as Best Opposite Hitter, Brianna Ang as Best 2nd Middle Blocker, Rhea Tomas as Best Libero, and Jan Rose Bulak as Best Setter.

Also part of the Thunderbolts’ 17-and-under team are Alexa Bertolano, Edz Karylle Escultura, Ana Ysabelle Hermosura, Abigael Jirah Labajo, Mary Antonette Bontia, and Danielle Anne Saloria.

Serving as head coach for the Thudnerbolts 17-under is Ian Macariola with Rommel Taniñas and Julian Samonte as his assistant coaches and Jose Montalbo as team manager.

The Thunderbolts’ 15-and-under team also claimed the crown in the 15-and-under category after beating CPU Golden Lions in the championship match.

Marishka Andrada was awarded as the division MVP and Best Setter, Zelver Faith Banguiao as 1st Best Middle Blocker, Athena Danielle Magbanua as 2nd Best Middle Blocker, Memielle Letran as Best Open Spiker, and Luchi Vivero as Best Libero.

Other members of the Thunderbolts 15-under squad are Ariane Alayon, Jemimah Calvo, Kara Feril, Samantha Canete, YZ Montalbo, Shannen Banas, Nicole Getino, Xadrej Espanola, and Kyana Cortez.

Handling the Thunderbolts 15-under team is Gerzan Banzuela, with Judy Rodriguez and Belson Ocampo as his assistants.

Bacolod Tay Tung High School were unable to complete a sweep of the three age-group categories as their 12-and-under team lost to Mandaue Grassroots in the 12-and-under finals./PN
