MANILA – Negros-ICC Blue Hawks are back on their winning ways in the 2024 MPVA season after a 25-23, 25-23, 25-19 sweep over Marikina Lady Shoemasters on Wednesday at the STRIKE Gym in Bacoor, Cavite.
Andrea Caparal continued her consistent performance for the Blue Hawks as she tallied 13 points on 11 attacks, one block, and a service ace as they improved to a 3-2 win-loss slate.
“Nanggaling kami sa talo (against Biñan), kaya talagang pinaghandaan namin itong laro na ito, kasi hindi kami puwedeng matalo ng dalawang sunod,” Caparal said on her Player of the Game interview.
Angeliz Cosme backed up Caparal offensively with 11 markers for the Blue Hawks, which bounced back from a stunning defeat to Biñan Tatak Gel 1-Pacman Partylist Volley Angels on Monday.
Leila Pasco was the lone double-digit scorer for the Lady Shoemasters with 10 points as they suffered their second defeat in as many matches.
Quezon Tangerines, on the other hand, notched their third win in as many matches after a 28-30, 25-23, 25-18, 19-25, 15-9 victory against the Volley Angels, which dropped to a 2-2 mark.
Rhea Mae Densing spearheaded the offense with 31 points on 27 attacks and four service aces to be named Player of the Game, while Francis Mycah Go and Shekaina Rhedge Lleses added 13 and 11 points, respectively.
Negrense volleybelles Erika Jin Deloria and Honey Grace Cordero finished with 22 and 12 points, respectively, in a losing cause for the Volley Angels, which slid to 2-2 win-loss slate.
Caloocan AM Air Force Spikers finally notched their first win against the San Juan Lady Knights, 25-21, 20-25, 25-22, 25-18. The Air Force Spikers climbed to 1-3, while San Juan dropped to 2-3.
Rhea Manalo and Percae Darabella Nieva joined forces with 20 and 18 points, respectively, while Jocemer Tapic-Acain had 10 in the breakthrough win for the Air Force Spikers./PN
