BACOLOD City – The city government will hold a hearing for its proposed P4.2-billion budget for 2025 abroad.

According to Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran, he will serve as acting mayor from August 30 to September 2 as Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez, city councilors and department heads will go to Thailand.

Familiaran confirmed that the said travel was approved by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).

Also part of the trip is benchmarking for solid waste management, street food management and food safety practices, and transport and tourism promotion.

The vice mayor added that the travel expenses will be sourced out from the personal money of the city mayor.

He also assured that works at the Bacolod City Government Center this Friday will not be hampered since the flight of the city officials and department heads will be tonight.

Earlier this month, the city government had announced that the annual budget for 2025 is set to breach the P4-billion mark, from only P3.6 billion this year.

“After three years, we are now at P4.2 billion. That’s an additional billion increase in our proposed 2025 budget,” the city mayor said.

He said next year, the city expects to get its national tax allotment share of P2.234 billion, almost P300 million higher than the amount this year./PN
