Bago City conducts seminar for teenage mothers

BACOLOD City – About 50 teenage, or adolescent, mothers from various barangays in the Bago City, Negros Occidental attended a seminar as part of an advocacy program for adolescent mothers on Friday, August 30.

The seminar aimed at capacitating the participants and to become more resilient as they cope with many challenges in life.

Some of the participants were as young as 14 years old while others were solo parents.

Maritess Pomada, head of the Social Science Department of Riverside College Inc., served as the resource person.

She talked on the topic “From teen mom to successful adult: Breaking down the stigma of early parenthood.”

Mayor Nicholas Yulo, Vice Mayor Ramon Torres and Provincial Board member Andrew Martin Torres graced the activity.

Also on the same day, the said officials turned over around P6 million worth of two emergency patient transport vehicles to the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office headed by Dr. Merijene Ortizo.

Moreover, the Bago City Police Station received P2.499 million worth of brand new pick-up crew cab./PN
