ILOILO City – In response to recent thefts, the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) has called on business and mall owners throughout Western Visayas to bolster their security protocols.
Brigadier General Jack Wanky, PRO-6 director, emphasized the necessity for heightened security, particularly during nighttime, by increasing the number of guards within and around business premises. “Many of our establishments have not enough security guards; that’s why we are recommending them to enhance security measures,” Wanky explained.
He also offered that his officers are prepared to conduct security surveillance inspections at major malls to identify and assess vulnerable areas that could potentially serve as access points for robbers.
The PRO-6 director highlighted the importance of cooperation between police and business owners in preventing crime.
“Let us help one another to prevent incidents like what happened at Iloilo Supermart,” Wanky said during an interview with Panay News.
Additionally, Wanky urged the installation of high-end closed-circuit television (CCTV) systems around business areas.
He noted, “CCTV is a big help in solving crimes; that’s why I instructed my men to inspect CCTVs to ensure they are functional.”
The call to action follows a recent robbery at the Iloilo Supermart in Barangay Tabuc Suba, Jaro District, where thieves stole P1.3 million in cash./PN
