
KALIBO, Aklan – Festival contingents of Kalibo town brought the Ati-Atihan festive celebration to the 35th Philippine Travel Mart (PTM) in SMX Convention Center, Mall of Asia Complex in Pasay City.
The biggest and longest-running annual fair in the country of around 300 exhibitors opened yesterday, September 6, and will until Sunday, September 8.
Philippine Tour Operators Association (PHILTOA) organized the three-day event supported by the Department of Tourism and the Tourism Promotions Board.
The local government of Kalibo under the leadership of Mayor Juris Bautista Sucro showcased the famous Kalibo Señor Santo Niño Ati-Atihan Festival, aside from the trade and craft, in the one-stop shop for travelers.
Five of the winning Ati-Atihan contingents – Black Beauty Boys, Tribu Linabuanon, Kabog, Libtong Boys and Royal Scorpio 11-19 – in the Kalibo Sadsad Ati-Atihan contest highlighted their energetic street dancing, colorful costumes and the beating of drums in the corridors of SMX Convention Center.
Tourism enthusiasts are also expected to get to know the rich culture and cuisines of emerging destinations in Mindanao, Visayas and Luzon, and to explore business opportunities, take advantage of exclusive discounts and travel packages of tours operators, resorts, airlines, tour offices and hotels.
International destinations in Europe and Asia are also showcased in the event.
This year’s theme “Love the NextGen Tourism” spotlights the four pillars: Sustainability, Digitalization, Inclusivity and Health and Wellness travel trends./PN
