THERE are many role models out there, some fantastic as seen with Paralympic competitors, some destructive with the conspiracy believers and the misogynists, mostly male. Most people are role models to their family and others because of their fame.
There are also role models who fail, often sports people, and those that are misguided, usually on the social media sites.
Elle Macpherson, a model and actress, has caused some concern after she wrote about treating breast cancer with âholisticâ approaches rather than conventional medicine.
The best approach to any health problem is the time-tested and proven path which involves doctors and then following their recommendations.
I am sure Elle meant no harm in telling her personal story but people would be advised to enjoy the story of her acting and modelling achievements and leave the medical work to the doctors.
Keep well Elle.

Stick to your day job?
Lara Trump had released a song, âHeroâ, dedicated to firefighters. There won’t be any need for their support as it’s not burning up the charts.
Everyone can sing but not everyone can sing well and very few make a fortune from their talent. It might be best for her to stay where she is most capable, but where is that?
She was a story coordinator and producer but then followed her in-laws into politics, although sensibly starting at the top rather than the bottom as an unpaid volunteer.
She took up the position of Republican National Committee co-chairman on a salary said to be in the order of US$300,000 a year for two years.
She is lucky to have some great contacts as no one in my family can get me a job that well paid, I did check!
It will be interesting to see if she will produce and sing a battle anthem that gets her father-in-law his old job back. The other candidate is looking more favorable so far.

Two year old assumptions
It was interesting to hear US ex-president Trump state that he had âevery rightâ to interfere with the 2020 election.
I wasnât sure if my understanding of âinterfereâ was right so I looked it up and the first definition, from Oxford dictionaries, was to âprevent (a process or activity) from continuing or being carried out properly.â
And that was what he did on Jan 6, 2021 or at least attempted to. The sad reality was the number of deaths that happened to protect the democratic process.
The approach of throwing a tantrum to get what you want used to be limited to two-year-old children although post COVID it is becoming more common. The response of a quick slap, no longer considered appropriate, has in this case led to numerous people, and maybe soon one more individual, being slapped with a jail sentence.
Two-year-olds are often self-indulgent, spoilt, and lack the maturity to always accept what others say. What is Donald Trumpâs excuse?

Who the F?
Now that Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has effectively âchuckedâ in the job, he wants to be taken off the US presidential ballot papers that he fought to be put on. But it seems harder to get off than get on. Is this a political comedy or a tragedy or just a farce?
An athlete who decides not to compete in the championship finals because he knows there are faster runners will be ridiculed, not find many sponsors, and possibly be banned for unsportsmanlike behavior.
Incidentally the F stands for Fitzgerald, my surname, but I and probably most of my relations are denying any connection or knowledge of him on our family tree.
