CAPIZ – A 68-year-old woman was killed by a bullet intended for her son at their residence in Sitio Mantawad, Barangay Malag-it, Pontevedra town in this province.
Josefina Asong sustained a gunshot wound on her chest. She was rushed to the nearest hospital but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.
In an interview with the victim’s husband, he said their son, Ryan, arrived home and told them he was being chased by the suspect identified as Giovani Abolocion III.
When the suspect later arrived at the residence of Asong family, he looked for Ryan but the victim blocked the former.
A gunshot was then heard and the victim was hit.
Police said the suspect immediately fled and remained at large as of this writing.
According to the investigation of the Pontevedra Municipal Police Station, the suspect chased the motorcycle-riding Ryan after he got pissed off of the loud sound of the latter’s vehicle when he passed by in front of his house.
