ILOILO City – Two high-value drug suspects were arrested in a buy-bust operation around 11:20 a.m. on Tuesday, September 24, in Barangay Q. Abeto, Mandurriao district.
Operatives of the Iloilo City Police Office’s (ICPO) City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) confiscated approximately 200 grams of suspected shabu valued at around P1,360,000 from aliases “Jojo,” 45, and “Nonoy,” 46, both residents of Barangay 8, Tigbauan, Iloilo.
Also recovered were buy-bust money and non-drug-related items.
The suspects are now in police custody and face charges under Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Meanwhile, Mayor Jerry Treñas commended the CDEU operatives.
“Ginadayaw ta kag ginapasalamatan ang aton law enforcement agencies, particularly ang ICPO and CDEU sa ila pagkadakop sa duha ka mga high-value individuals nga involved sa illegal drug activities. Ang madinalag-on nga operasyon… nagapakita lamang sang aton commitment sa pagpakig-away ta kontra sa ilegal nga droga sa siyudad sang Iloilo,” Treñas said.
The city mayor also announced plans to award a certificate of commendation and reward the operatives involved in the operation.
“We remain resolute in our efforts to ensure the safety and security of the Ilonggos. I urge everyone to continue supporting Iloilo City Police Office in this vital fight,” he added./PN
