With the Philippines being dubbed as the “selfie capital of the world,” comes another invention which has definitely taken selfie photography to the next level with much ease and convenience.
Monopods or selfiepods currently hitting the market are the latest must-have item for every selfie and “wefie” photograph enthusiasts.
With monopods, taking a selfie no longer requires a long stretch of the arms for the sake of fitting on the screen. Through the use of the said equipment, one has to simply set up their phones on the monopod and strike a model pose with much gusto. Monopod is a single staff or pole originally used to support devices such as cameras. It allows the camera to stay still in order to produce properly-timed and sharper images.
Unlike the tripod, monopod is only composed of a single foot (hence, its name), making it more convenient to bring as it can be quickly folded when not in use.
With the popularity monopod gathered emerged a lot of varieties. Starting off just as a simple pole where smartphones can be installed comes a monopod with a shutter connected to the device through Bluetooth.
The latest innovation of the monopod no longer requires setting the timer and wait for five seconds to achieve the much-awaited selfie shot. One has to simply click the Bluetooth connected to the shutter and a selfie is instantly captured.
Though monopods were created simply for the purpose of fun and leisure, one must never forget its core purpose, and that is to document ordinary and special moments happening in our lives./PN
