AKLAN – In a significant effort to enhance educational opportunities in Aklan, Congressman Jojo Ang of the Uswag Ilonggo party-list distributed financial assistance to scholars from all municipalities of the province as part of the One-Baranggay-One-Scholar program. Each enrolled Aklanon student, whether in private or public schools, received P10,000, aimed at alleviating the financial burden of education.
The event, held in the presence of notable figures including Sen. Lito Lapid, Uswag Ilongo party-list’s 2nd nominee Ma. Lourdes Miraflores, Gov. Jose Enrique Miraflores, former governor Joeben Miraflores, and mayors, emphasized the importance of education and community support. Regional staff from the Department of Social Welfare and Development were also in attendance, highlighting collaborative efforts to uplift Aklan’s educational landscape.
In addition to the educational assistance, an orientation for the Department of Labor and Employment’s Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Disadvantaged Workers (DOLE-TUPAD) program was conducted for over a thousand beneficiaries across the province, offering them opportunities for employment support and skills development.
While a groundbreaking ceremony for the Makato Sports Complex improvement was scheduled, inclement weather forced a postponement.
As Uswag Ilonggo party-list gears up for the upcoming 2025 elections, it continues to prioritize educational initiatives, reinforcing its commitment to the welfare of Aklanon families and the future generation./PN
