PCG to impose speed harbor limits in Boracay, Malay territorial waters

AKLAN – The newly-appointed acting commander of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Station Aklan will impose speed harbor limits in Boracay Island and Malay town for safety and security.

PCG-Aklan will also identify sea lanes in the territorial waters of Malay particularly in the west coast of Boracay and monitor one-entry one-exit to Boracay Island.

Prior to his assignment, Captain Rodolfo Dela Peña Jr. was the deputy commander of Coast Guard District Western Visayas. He was previously assigned in PCG-Caticlan station in 2011 and 2018.

“Since Boracay is a premier tourist destination, PCG has prioritized maritime security and safety of Malay and the whole province of Aklan,” Dela Peña said.

Dela Peña replaced Lieutenant Junior Grade John Laurence Banzuela in CG Station Aklan.

Chief Petty Officer Joe Marie Capada is also designated the acting commander of PCG Sub-Station Malay while Ensign Marvince Genzola is the new commandeer of PCG Sub-Station Boracay.

PCG conducts vessel inspection enforcement and further capacitate its personnel in the performance of their functions on maritime safety, search and rescue, law enforcement, environmental protection and security.

PCG also ensures safe sea travel during the Christmas and New Year holidays in the province of Aklan./PN
