Estancia drug bust yields P1.1 million worth of ‘shabu’

ILOILO – Police have seized more or less 170 grams of suspected shabu valued at around P1,156,000.

The antidrug buy-bust operation, conducted by the Iloilo Police Provincial Office’s (IPPO) Drug Enforcement Unit and Intelligence Unit, Estancia Municipal Police Station (MPS), and 2nd Iloilo Provincial Mobile Force Company, took place at around 6:25 p.m. on Wednesday, October 23, in Barangay Tacbuyan, Estancia town.

Suspects identified as aliases “Ryan”, 40, and a resident of Barangay Democracia, Jaro, Iloilo City, and “Lean,” 47, of Barangay Tacbuyan, were caught following the sale of suspected shabu to an undercover police officer.

Police said Ryan was categorized as a high-value drug suspect while Lean a street-level individual.

Colonel Bayani Razalan, IPPO director, said the operation was launched in response to information from concerned citizens regarding the suspects’ involvement in illegal drug activities.

“After nearly two weeks of careful surveillance, the team successfully apprehended these individuals. Reports indicate that their drug suppliers are from Manila and Bacolod,” Razalan said.

Both suspects are currently in police custody and are set to face charges for violating Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002)./PN
