ILOILO – A driver died while his passenger was injured after a tricycle figured in a road accident in Sitio Bugtong Bato, Barangay Culasi, Ajuy town on Thursday night, October 24.
According to Captain Jose Winston Biadog, chief of the Ajuy Municipal Police Station, the victims identified as aliases “Ronie,” 52, a barangay tanod, and “Jun-Jun,” 36, both residents of Barangay Culasi, were coming from the town’s Barangay Luca when the accident occurred around 8:30 p.m.
“The two were negotiating a sharp curve when the tricycle suddenly went over the gutter, causing it to overturn,” said Biadog.
Initial investigation indicates that Ronnie, the driver, may have been under the influence of alcohol, and the dark road conditions may have contributed to the crash.
Ronie was rushed to Sara District Hospital but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.
Jun-Jun sustained minor injuries. He was recuperating at the said hospital./PN
