CAPIZ – Several barangays across three municipalities in this province were flooded following nonstop heavy rains since Sunday night, November 3, until around 5 a.m. yesterday.

The towns of Jamindan, Mambusao and Tapaz experienced knee-deep flooding.

Vice Mayor Lemuel Aran Vestidas of Jamindan said heavy downpour started around 10 p.m. on Sunday and inundated several low-lying areas.

Data from the local government of Jamindan showed that 11 families from Barangay Poblacion were evacuated.

Vertidas added that the local government yesterday suspended classes in the town’s private and public schools and work in government offices.

In Mambusao, no evacuees were reported but flooding was experienced on Marcelo Street in Barangay Papasok; and in barangays Tumalalud Bitsihan, Bunga, Balat-an, Bato-Bato, and Batiano.

Meanwhile, the Agpipili Bridge in Barangay San Nicolas, Tapaz was temporarily impassable to light vehicles from 8 a.m. yesterday. But at around 9:30 a.m. when flood water subsided slowly, the traffic flow was back to normal./PN
