MANILA – Biñan Tatak Gel 1-Pacman Partylist Volley Angels banked on another solid outing from Erika Jin Deloria to defeat San Juan Lady Knights-Go for Gold, 25-23, 25-21, 25-18, in the 2024 MPVA season on Thursday at the Bacoor Strike Gym in Cavite.
Deloria spearheaded the offense with 18 points, all coming from attacks, to be named Player of the Game as the Volley Angels moved to second place in the standings with a 10-5 win-loss slate.
The former Bacolod Tay Tung High School Thunderbolts star credited the continued guidance of her Volley Angels’ coaches for her consistent performance for her squad as they moved closer to sealing a playoffs seat.
“‘Yung mga coaches ko never akong pinabayaan, even if mag-error ako or what, gina-guide pa din nila ako and nandiyan din ‘yung support system ko, which is ‘yung teammates ko,” Deloria said in a post-game interview.
Added the Enderun College Lady Titans standout: “Sa mga coaches namin, nafi-feel ko naman na may tiwala sa each and everyone of us, and im portante din, I think, na naniniwala kami sa sarili namin,”
The Lady Knights, on the other hand, continued their slump as they dropped to a 6-8 win-loss slate.
Meanwhile, Caloocan AM Spikers (7-6) secured their second consecutive victory as they defeated the reigning champions, Bacoor City Strikers (11-4), 18-25, 25-22, 25-17, 25-23.
Iari Yongco-Quimzon anchored the AM Spikers’ offense with 22 points, built on 18 attacks and four blocks,
Valenzuela City Classy (4-11) netted their second straight victory as they took down Marikina Lady Shoemasters (0-15), 25-19, 26-24, 27-25.
Zonxi Dahab stepped up for the Classy with 12 points, on eight attacks, three service aces, and a block, to be named Player of the Game./PN
