ILOILO – A 24-year-old man was fatally shot during a heated altercation in Barangay Salngan, Pototan, Iloilo.
Pototan police said Joel Mamon Mendez was reportedly drinking at his uncle’s house when the suspect, Reynante Mamon Dago, arrived.
A verbal dispute escalated between the two men leading to the shooting. The suspect allegedly fired at Mendez with a homemade 12-gauge shotgun, hitting him on the chest, police added.
Mendez sustained a fatal wound and was pronounced dead shortly after the incident.
As of this writing, officers of the Pototan Municipal Police Station were still conducting a manhunt for the suspect, who fled after the shooting.
