ILOILO – The Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) has assured the public that justice will be served for the family of a barangay kagawad who was shot dead in Barangay San Rafael, Tigbauan town.

The victim identified as Joevani Triste was allegedly gunned down by suspect John Castro Jr. on October 24.

In an interview with Panay News, IPPO director Colonel Bayani Razalan emphasized that the police will leave no stone unturned in resolving the case and bringing the perpetrator to justice.

“We will not show favoritism or fear to anyone involved. What we are assuring the public is that if you have any information, please come forward. We guarantee that the case we will file will be airtight, and those responsible will face the consequences,” Razalan said.

The police, he added, have implemented additional security measures to protect the Triste family as the investigation progresses. Witnesses in the case have also been placed under the witness protection program to ensure their safety and prevent potential threats.

Razalan urged the public to cooperate with authorities and share any relevant information that could aid in the investigation and bring justice to the family of Triste.

In an earlier statement, Razalan confirmed that the firearm used by Castro in the fatal shooting was registered under AAMBIS-OWWA party-list’s representative, Atty. Lex Colada.

The ownership and potential involvement are currently part of the ongoing investigation, the IPPO director said./PN
