America…the beautiful

THE 2024 US Presidential Elections was a revealing and bewildering experience.

Against sober predictions, Donald Trump won as President of the United States, insuring him an unprecedented niche in its political history.

It is a given that whatever happens in the USA affects the fate of Filipinos because our historical and cultural ties are bound in a tight embrace.

Trump, a political nobody emerging out of nowhere, challenged the established political system, and with his unorthodox, sometimes uncouth, outspoken nonsense and apparent ignorance, and a not-so-ideal personal life, won and was elected to the highest office in the land.

A Republican, Trump is a confirmed racist and white supremacist; whereas, Kamala Harris, the Democrat contender and incumbent Vice President (and former District Prosecutor), is of Jamaican extract with Indian bloodlines, and her dusky countenance qualifies as colored and black.

With this racial disparity, the colored votes were expected to be for Harris but surprisingly Trump, whose forebears hired no blacks, aligned with the White Supremacy groups and slave traders, fared well.

It appears that the blacks have never gotten over the centuries of oppression and humiliation; and cleave more with comfort under the wheel and whip of the white master. It brings to bear that race is not a defining issue…heck, Americans, white, black or blue, born with the breath of freedom and resolute in their ways, vote for whoever, for the moment, arrests their fancy. And last November 4, Trump happened to be the guy of their liking.

Another political asset and strength for Harris were the women votes. Women, basically, vote for their ilk and Trump, thru a litany of political ads and outright disavowals of critics and non-believers, has been painted as having no respect whatsoever for women. His iconic slur of “grab them by the kitty” is supposed to spell his doom.

On the contrary, he won the women’s vote, which is a revelation; women do not mind the grabbing….and voted for the guy who did it.

This, of course, is my political analysis of how Trump won the election. I do not campaign that you go around grabbing.

The women have spoken…and the world is pondering hard on what to expect of the 47th US President.

There are no significant domestic or international policies save the rhetoric of deportation of migrants; the Mexican Wall and what else?

A subtle signal from the banking sector indicates the acquisition and reserve of US dollars as an ideal buffer…because our economy is hopelessly tied up to the Almighty US Dollar….and we know not…where the four winds of the economy will blow under President Trump.

The dollar, however, represents the strongest, mightiest and richest nation in the world that, as the greatest Vanguard of Democracy, continues to open its shores to the hungry, eager swaying masses straining to break free, and live in the sunshine of its verdant hill from sea to shining sea./PN
