BACOLOD City – Police seized approximately 220 grams of suspected shabu worth P1.5 million and arrested five suspects in an anti-illegal drug operation in Purok Uhaw, Barangay 4, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental.
Officers of the Kabankalan Component City Police Station carried out the operation around 1:35 p.m. on Wednesday, November 13.
The suspects were identified as aliases “John”, 32, categorized as a high-value individual (HVI); and street-level targets “Helen,” 38; “Honey”, 31; “Jef”, 44; and “Mat”, 41.
Police said Jef was from Himamaylan City and the four others were all residents of Kabankalan City.
Brigadier General Jack L. Wanky, director of the Police Regional Office 6, lauded the swift action of the Kabankalan City police and acknowledged the critical role of community vigilance in combating the illegal drug trade.
“This successful operation is a testament to our ongoing efforts against illegal drugs. Let this serve as a stern warning that those involved in the illegal drug trade will face the full force of the law,” Wanky added.
The suspects are now under police custody. They will face charges for violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./PN
