ILOILO City – By the third quarter of this year, the multi-awarded Public Employment Service Office (PESO) of the Iloilo City Government has already achieved 99 percent of its target for 2024.
Based on their accomplishment report, from the 1st to 3rd quarter of 2024, the office was able to assist 208,893 individuals and conduct numerous activities, reaching 99.05 percent of its 210,907 total target.
PESO manager Gabriel Felix M. Umadhay attributed the office’s accomplishments to the hard work and dedication of their personnel, as well as the strong support from Mayor Jerry Treñas’ administration.
This combination has enabled them to meet and exceed expectations effectively, he said.
Umadhay assured that PESO Iloilo City will continue to empower the community by providing various programs and services, creating opportunities for growth and development in Iloilo City.
“These achievements underscore the dedication and tireless efforts of our team, coupled with the unwavering support from the city administration. We commit to continue our efforts to assist our jobseekers and conduct livelihood and skills training programs for the Ilonggos,” Umadhay emphasized.
PESO Iloilo City achieved over 100 percent of its goals in various programs such as job placement (124 percent); job fair (126 percent); Local Recruitment Activity (104.44 percent); Career Development Support Program (CDSP) for College (139.29 percent); Government Internship Program (140 percent); Opportunity 2.0 (120 percent); Special Program for the Employment of Students (SPES) (113.79 percent); Campaign Against Child Labor (100.37 percent); and PESO Employment Information System (PEIS) (129.79 percent).
In particular, the office facilitated 22,490 job placements out of the 18,000 target; 24,407 job referrals out of the 27,694 target; and 133,415 individuals assisted out of the 139,602 target
From the 1st to 3rd quarter of the year, the office conducted 19 job fairs, surpassing the target of 15; 18 Special Recruitment Activities (SRA), almost achieving the target of 25; and 47 Local Recruitment Activities (LRA), surpassing the target of 45.
Notably, 11,681 individuals benefited from the PEIS program, surpassing the 9,000 target; while 11, 352 of the 12, 156 target students benefitted from CDSP for Grade 10 program.
The office also achieved 100 percent accomplishments in programs such as Sanayan sa Kakayang Industriyal Skills (SKIL), Barangay Employment Service Office (BESO), Livelihood, and Angel Tree.
Other notable accomplishments include job referral, financial literacy, and jobstart programs.
PESO-Iloilo City also successfully facilitated the Department of Labor and Employment’s (DOLE) Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) Program, benefiting 14,201 individuals in the metro.
AWARDS AND RECOGNITIONS
Under Umadhay’s leadership, PESO-Iloilo City has again been hailed as this year’s Champion in the National Search for Best PESO for Highly Urbanized Cities and Regional Grand Winner under the HUC Category for SBP 2023.
Additionally, the office received awards in the Regional PESO Awards for:

The office has also been recognized by the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) for exemplary commitment to Overseas Filipino Workers’ welfare. Further recognitions came from the YWCA for support and contribution to community engagement, workforce development, and economic growth, and from the Pilipinas Shell Foundation, Inc. for significant contributions to the 2024 Iloilo Development Program.
Mayor Treñas expressed his pride in the accomplishments and achievements of PESO. He acknowledged that Umadhay and his team have consistently demonstrated dedication and excellence in serving the needs of the Ilonggos in the city.
