MANILA – President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has urged the House of Representatives not to file an impeachment complaint against Vice President Sara Duterte-Carpio.
According to a report by DZRH broadcaster Anthony Taberna, Marcos messaged the House not to file any impeachment cases as it will distract the government from its work.
“In the larger scheme of things, Sara is unimportant. So please do not file impeachment complaints,” Marcos said in a message sent to the lawmakers.
“It will only distract us from the real work of governance, which is to improve the lot of all Filipinos,” the Chief Executive further said.
Duterte-Carpio on Wednesday ruled out a possible reconciliation with President Marcos, saying that they are determined to get rid of her through impeachment.
“I believe we reached the point of no return and it is clear na [that] they are really going after me,” Duterte-Carpio said. “Gusto nila akong tanggalin sa position.”
“They can always try na mag-impeachment…They can always gumastos at magwaldas ng pera ng gobyerno para i-impeach ang vice president…Let’s see. If I get impeached, that is my end. Tapos,” she added.
Duterte-Carpio recently said in a press briefing that she has contracted someone to kill President Marcos, House of Representatives Speaker Ferdinand “Martin” Romualdez, and First Lady Liza Araneta Marcos if the plan to kill her succeeds.
