One-day anti-drug ops net P1.57-M ‘shabu’, 13 suspects

ILOILO City – Police across Western Visayas seized approximately 231 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of P1.57 million in a day.

From 6 a.m. on Tuesday, November 26, to 5:59 a.m. on Wednesday, November 27, various police units also arrested 13 individuals, two of whom were high-value suspects and 11 others were tagged as street-level targets.

Data from the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) showed that the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) made six arrests, followed by the Iloilo City Police Office with five arrests and Iloilo Police Provincial Office with two arrests.

The BCPO also recorded the largest drug haul, confiscating illegal drugs worth approximately P748,000. The pre-dawn buy-bust operation was carried out on Wednesday in Purok Malvar Cubay, Barangay Villamonte, Bacolod City. Six suspects were apprehended.

Brigadier General Jack L. Wanky, director of PRO-6, lauded the involved units for their steadfast commitment to eradicating illegal drugs in the region.

“With more information provided to us, rest assured that these will be validated, and appropriate legal actions will be taken against those found engaging in illegal activities,” he said.

The suspects are currently under police custody. They are facing charges for violating Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./PN
