ILOILO City – The West Visayas State University (WVSU) College of Medicine is gearing up to accommodate more aspiring doctors with the construction of new facilities on its campus.

These developments are made possible by the Doktor Para sa Bayan Act, which aims to make medical education more accessible to Filipinos.

There’s an ongoing construction of a state-of-the-art skills and simulation laboratory and another building that will provide additional learning spaces.

When completed, these new facilities are expected to enhance the training of future medical professionals and address the country’s healthcare workforce needs.

Established in 1902 as the Iloilo Normal School, WVSU has grown into a leading institution, notably as one of only two state universities in the country with its own Teaching Hospital, alongside the University of the Philippines (UP).

The College of Medicine, recognized as a Center of Development by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), consistently produces top-performing medical professionals who serve Western Visayas and beyond./PN
