Farmer nabbed in Barotac Nuevo drug buy-bust

ILOILO – A 55-year-old farmer was arrested in a drug buy-bust operation conducted by the Barotac Nuevo municipal police in Barangay Tabucan.

The suspect, identified as alias “Boboy”, is a resident of Barangay Polot-an, Pototan.

Authorities revealed that Boboy had been under surveillance for over a month, with investigators suspecting he sourced illegal drugs from an associate in Pototan.

Seized from the suspect on November 30 were three sachets of suspected shabu weighing approximately 13 grams, valued at P88,000 based on standard drug pricing.

Law enforcers also recovered a .38 caliber revolver and six live rounds of ammunition during the operation.

The Barotac Nuevo police chief confirmed that charges for violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, and Republic Act 10591, which penalizes illegal possession of firearms and ammunition, are being prepared against the suspect./PN
