ILOILO – A 37-year-old driver was shot and killed in Barangay Panginman, Leon, Iloilo.
Police identified the victim as alias “Boying,” 37, a resident of the town’s Barangay Biri Sur, while the suspect was alias “Joven,” a 40-year-old farmer, also from the same town.
According to Captain Martin Pugales, chief of the Leon Municipal Police Station, the two got into an argument at a wake on Friday, November 29. Attempts were made to pacify them and both were asked to go home.
While the suspect was on his way home on a motorcycle, he encountered the victim who was walking along the road. A confrontation ensued anew, during which the victim allegedly struck the suspect’s motorcycle side mirror, causing him to fall.
In retaliation, Pugales said the suspect reportedly drew a .357 revolver and shot the victim, hitting him four times on the chest and abdomen. The victim was rushed to Aleosan District Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
Following the incident, the suspect surrendered to the barangay captain and turned over his firearm. He was detained at the Leon Municipal Police Station, facing a homicide charge./PN
