On the nose, officially

BY DENNIS FITZGERALD

THERE are a number of countries where the President or Prime Minister are seen to be on the nose, think of France, Syria and often Britian.

But there is only one leader that has produced his own official smell, “Fight, Fight, Fight”, US President-elect Donald Trump. The cost of $US199 suggests there is a real odor to cover.

Something stinks here and a small, expensive spray bottle might not be enough to “Fight, Fight, Fight” the bad smell.

Trump fires up?

With Donald Trump being such as incendiary personality, should he be invited to the reopening of the Notre Dame cathedral?

Well, he was. And he was seated next to French President Emmanuel Macron.

Bitcoin flies high?

As to all the hype about Bitcoin prices, perhaps the story of Icarus might provide some wisdom as he was a high flyer, for a while.

A slippery definition

What is art?

A real definition is too broad for the letters to the editor word limits but it once involved paint or a chisel, although that was a long time ago.

Modern art now involves even a banana and then its consumption, actually a literal consumption in this case. Is this art or a strange method of getting publicity after spending millions on a banana and some sticky tape.

Perhaps a better way to spend the money would have been to provide free meals including a banana each to the numerous people who need it.

Maybe I need to broaden my knowledge of art or to get an orange and a nail to create my own. If you have $5million to sponsor me, thanks but wake up and give it to charity.

Your army needs you, but not everyone

Like many baby boomers, I grew up in a time when there was little support or acceptance of diversity in gender but that was almost 70 years ago and yet some still have the same approach.

It has been reported in the media that the Trump transition team is looking at removing all transgender people from serving in the US military. This will be about 15,000 people no longer protecting their country and its constitution.

Republican congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene has also stated on X that this will improve recruitment and save money. Sacking people will save money but how will it get more people to join up?

Those that serve should be supported, respected and honored, they are never “losers” and “suckers” as alleged by Donald Trump.

Support all those that serve as you may one day need their support./PN
