ILOILO City – Three employees of a bottling company were robbed by three armed men WHO posed as police officers in Barangay Sta. Fe, Pilar, Capiz on Sunday, January 5.
The victims were identified as Jorge Valsote, 48, a resident of Barangay Poblacion Tabuc, Panay, Capiz; Daniel Acervo, 35, of Barangay Parian, Sigma, Capiz; and Jose Billones, 57, from Barangay Tanza Sur, Panay, Capiz.
According to Colonel Albert Tapulao, director of Capiz Police Provincial Office (CPPO), the victims were onboard a gray Toyota Innova when the unidentified armed men flagged them down at around 9:55 a.m. and carted away their collection worth P1 million in cash.
Tapulao said the robbers poked guns at the victims, ordered them to get out of the vehicle, and tied their hands and covered their heads with bonnets.
“Before leaving, the suspects took the car key of the victims’ and they fled using a gray Mitsubishi Mirage car,” Tapulao told Panay News.
The victims, he said, came from the towns of Banate and Lemery in Iloilo Province and were heading to Panay town when they were robbed.
As of writing, Tapulao said they have identified persons of interests who were involved in various crimes including robberies.
The CPPO director added they are not also discounting the possibility that the incident was an inside job.
“We are not discounting the possibility of inside job kasi alam nila na may malaking pera,” Tapulao said./PN
