MANILA – Presidential Assistant for Rehabilitation and Recovery (PARR) Panfilo Lacson is set to turn over 150 “permanent” houses to survivors of super typhoon “Yolanda” in Estancia, Iloilo tomorrow.
The turnover ceremony will take place in Brgy. Jolog, Estancia at 10 a.m.
Estancia’s coastal barangays were wiped out during the onslaught of “Yolanda,” destroying their source of livelihood.
Its neighboring towns, Ajuy and Concepcion were also heavily affected by the November storm.
Lacson said the housing project is a collaboration with giant Philippine property developer, Ayala Land, Inc.
“Ayala Land is one of the private donors that have been coordinating with PARR, pursuant to (our) mandate to coordinate and manage all rehabilitation efforts from both the public and private sector,” Lacson said.
Each house costs between P150,000 to P180,000, said Ayala Land project manager Ryan Ybañez.
The 25-square-meter unit can accommodate at least five household members, he told Panay News.
The official said they are also looking into turning over an additional 150 units for typhoon victims in the province.
“In other areas of the 5th District of Iloilo, we are doing schools and boats,” Ybañez shared.
Yesterday, Lacson led the groundbreaking for new schools in Tacloban City and San Miguel, Leyte.
These schools were the San Fernando Central School in Tacloban, and San Miguel National High School and Guinciaman Elementary School in Leyte./PN
